Weddings in Sun Peaks

Sun Peaks is a full alpine village an hour north of Kamloops, and it is the most logistically demanding place we work — in ways that have nothing to do with music and everything to do with mountains.

What we love about Sun Peaks Resort

Mountain logistics come before music

The resort offers ceremony sites ranging from a chapel that seats twelve and is reachable only by chairlift, through alpine meadows near the lift top, to a 300-guest ballroom with vaulted timber ceilings. Choosing between them is a logistics decision as much as an aesthetic one, and after 200-plus weddings here we tend to be involved in that conversation earlier than couples expect.

The mid-mountain chapel has no electrical service at all. Every ceremony up there runs entirely on battery, with a rig sized for the full service plus margin, because the chairlift is the only way up or down and nothing can be swapped mid-ceremony. We built our mountain kit specifically around this constraint.

Weather up here moves faster than in the valley and the seasons cut the venue list differently — the chapel and meadows follow the lift schedule, roughly late June to late September in summer and mid-November to early April in winter. Cold also drains batteries faster, which matters for a February ceremony in a way it never does in July.

The compensation for all that complexity is real: nearly every guest is staying in the village, nobody is driving anywhere, and Sun Peaks receptions consistently run later and louder than their valley equivalents.

A Sun Peaks couple

"We got married at Sun Peaks Resort and Common Sound was the perfect fit for our mountain wedding. The ceremony sound was crystal clear, the music during dinner was elegant, and when it was time to party, the dance floor was full from start to finish. Planning from out of town was easy because communication was great and every detail was handled."

Sun Peaks FAQ

Wedding DJ questions — Sun Peaks

Not at the Sunburst Chapel — it has no electrical service, and chairlift is the only access. We run those ceremonies entirely on battery with a system sized for the full service plus margin. Meadow and village sites vary, and we confirm each one in advance.

By chairlift or the resort's service road, on the resort's schedule rather than ours. We coordinate the load-in window with Sun Peaks directly and build the setup timeline backwards from it. It's the main reason a mountain wedding day runs differently from a valley one.

Yes, and it's a common Sun Peaks pattern. It requires two independent systems and crew who can be in two places, which we plan for from the outset.

Year-round. Winter shifts which ceremony sites are available with the lift schedule, and cold weather affects battery performance, so our planning changes accordingly — but snow weddings up here are genuinely spectacular.

More than 200. The resort is one of the two venues we know best, and most of what we've learned there is operational rather than musical.
