For us, the dry heat means something more specific: outdoor ceremony sites across the Thompson Valley are almost all exposed, with little natural shelter and a valley breeze that picks up in the afternoon. Underpowered ceremony audio disappears in those conditions. We bring dedicated ceremony systems rather than stretching a reception rig outdoors, and we plan for wind rather than hoping against it.
The venue mix here is unusually broad for a city this size — a downtown hotel ballroom, a university conference centre built for the largest guest lists in the region, a vineyard on the bench above the South Thompson, a donkey ranch in the sagebrush, and a great many family properties. It varies enormously, and we never assume. Hotel and conference venues are straightforward; vineyard, ranch and private-property sites frequently have no usable power at the ceremony area. We carry battery-powered ceremony rigs as standard so the answer doesn't change what we can do.
Peak Saturdays between May and October typically book about 13 months out, and the most in-demand venues go earlier still. Off-peak dates and weekdays are far more flexible — sometimes only a few months. It's always worth asking regardless of your timeline.
