Private Properties Weddings
Backyard weddings and family-land celebrations across the Thompson Valley. No venue coordinator, no built-in infrastructure, no rain plan unless you make one — and often the most personal weddings we do.

- Every property is different. That's the point, and the challenge.
How we work it
What we've learned here
Private property is the venue type that goes wrong most often, and always for the same reasons: power, weather, and neighbours. Residential power circuits aren't built for a sound system plus catering plus lighting on the same breaker — we plan the electrical load properly or bring our own power. Weather has no indoor fallback unless you've rented one. And rural or residential properties often sit under municipal noise bylaws that end the night earlier than you'd expect. We walk the site or review photos and a plan with you well ahead of the day, because on a property wedding there's nobody else whose job it is to have thought about this.
Planning notes
Three things worth knowing
- Check your local noise bylaw before you set your timeline, not after. Thompson-Nicola properties vary and it's the single most common surprise on backyard weddings.
- Talk to your neighbours early. A heads-up and an invitation to the late portion solves almost every problem before it happens.
- Rent the tent even if the forecast is perfect. It's cheaper than the alternative and it doubles as shade in a Kamloops August.

FAQ
Private Properties FAQ
Yes — we carry battery-powered capability and we plan the electrical load before the day rather than discovering it. Residential circuits shared with catering and lighting are the most common cause of problems at property weddings, and it's entirely avoidable with planning.
Yes, and it's the detail most couples miss. Municipal and regional-district noise rules vary across the Thompson-Nicola and they set a real end time. Check before you build your timeline — we'd rather plan a great night that ends at 11 than have one cut short at 10.
Whatever you've planned for, which is why we ask about it early. There's no indoor fallback on private land unless you've rented one. Our setup changes depending on your contingency, so we need to know it — not on the day, but during planning.
